Drive your muscle car to the gym for T boost!

Drive to the gymA recent study has shown that men who drive sports cars have raised levels of testosterone. This goes some way to explain why many men in a mid-life crisis decide to buy a sports car. So, what does this mean for the rest of us? Well, increasing your testosterone is good for you. People with low testosterone levels are at greater risk of developing heart disease, diabetes and depression.

But there is more. Increased testosterone levels means that you build more muscle! So next time you are looking for a way to get a testosterone boost to aid your muscle recovery and growth, go for a drive around town in a sports car, ideally at a time when many women will see you!

The research was carried out by Concordia University in Montreal and published in the journal Organisational Behavior and Human Decision Processes.

“Put a man in a high status car, and his hormonal response will correspond to a social win (T levels go up subsequent to a competitive win)” said lead researcher Prof Gad Saad.

How does it work?

The research is incomplete, but Saad thinks that the effect may actually be short-lived. There may also be a connection with self-esteem – men who drive flashy sports cars will feel good about themselves. “It’s literally the peacock’s tail. It’s the human version,” said Saad.

This is of course a very expensive way to boost your testosterone, there may be cheaper ways. Fortunately research has shown that it is not only sports cars that increase testosterone, just wearing red can also help.

So put on your favorite red muscle shirt and get down to the gym to pump some iron. Ideally, drive a red sports car, while wearing red. You’ll look like Mr Universe in no time!
