Running Replaces Gym Membership

Running woman in pinkThere are reports that several national gym chains are struggling due to falling membership renewals and this is most evident if you look out at the the streets or parks  – more people are jogging and running for fitness.

It is thought that as many as 20% of women undertake regular exercise of some form, but as gym memberships continue to fall so the numbers that jog are increasing. Jogging is a cheaper option and if combined with the right equipment can be every bit as productive.

A good pair of running shoes, some good fitting shorts and a wicking shirt are all that is required for a serious running session. Plus, research has shown that running outdoors is beneficial to both mental and physical health.


There are many gadgets on the market also to help you monitor your jogging performance. Until now, devices that measure distance, speed or energy used when running or jogging have proved an uncomfortable fit for most women.   1. This is an excellent suggestion. I have also noticed that a lot of people at work have not renewed their gym memberships too. I am not sure if they are running/jogging or not. However, this little unit help replace the computer on the treadmill or elliptical and help people keep track of their progress and workout consistency.
