Carey Mulligan’s Exercises: Pilates and Running

Carey MulliganCarey Mulligan was on Jonathan Ross last night chatting alongside Robert De Niro, Sly Stallone and Jonah Hill. She wore a black dress which revealed her very slim figure. She was promoting the movie Shame, which reveals her in the full flesh. So, how does she stay in shape?

When she had to go on a strict diet she really hated it. She decided to lose weight after she experienced “a phase of not being comfortable with myself”. It was not a good time for her.

Her diet consisted of little more than Weetabix for breakfast, soup for lunch and salad for dinner. This would be around 500 Calories a day and her weight dropped to about 112lbs (50 kg). She vowed to not allow that to happen again.

Today she still controls her eating to stay slim but is far less restrictive. She said: “I’m not going to restrict myself or make myself miserable. It’s never affected my work or my relationships, however big or small I’ve been, so I finally came to the realisation that it doesn’t matter.”

Gym and Pilates classes

To slim down for The Great Gatsby she went to Pilates classes to develop a slim, twenties style body. She said that fellow cast members, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Isla Fisher on The Great Gatsby all used to go to the gym on a regular basis to stay in shape. Being overweight was not something that was common during the inter-war period.

Running

She has been spotted running in Runyon Canyon in Los Angeles and looks comfortable running. Running is one of the best ways to lose fat so it is no surprise that this is her chosen way to stay in shape.

Judging by her physique she does not workout in gyms a great deal. other than to do more cardio.

Carey is very slim, and there is little doubt that she eats a controlled calorie diet and exercises often. Running and Pilates is a great combination for a woman who wants to be very slim, but not too skinny. Running burns fat and Pilates tones the muscles a little and helps with posture too.
