Well, Prince William and Kate Middleton are now married. If you saw the wedding then you will know that Kate is certainly in great shape, and certainly fit to be a queen one day.

Obviously it is hard to learn much about those close to the Royal Family, but we do know a few things that we can share here about her fitness and diet.

Kate was an average sized teenager and actually lost some weight to become slimmer after she started seeing Prince William in 2001. The biggest change to her weight came after University when the press started to hound her. It is thought that her weight loss was caused by the stress of being in the media spotlight. She actually took legal action against the media which stopped the harassment.

Kate Middleton’s Fitness and Diet

Gym, Cycling and Yoga for Fitness

The media have in the past said that Kate often goes to the gym to workout and also enjoys cycling and yoga. She has been photographed cycling several times, often on her way to the gym. She has often been seen spending up to an hour a day at her gym.

In 2008 it was reported that Prince William ordered a new gym to be built at Clarence House for Kate, so that she did not need to visit any other gyms and risk being photographed.

“She works out for at least an hour a day and loves to stay slim and toned. She and Pippa use the gym all the time because it has great equipment and it’s completely private. She has even had William and Harry doing crunches and press-ups.” Source: Dailymail Newspaper.

The Sporty Hockey Captain

While studying at college she was captain of the hockey team. Hockey is very much like soccer and requires an excellent level of fitness, muscular endurance and agility. She is also a great fan of skiing, and goes skiing each winter with Prince William.

Charity Boat Races

Kate also did a lot of rowing when training for a charity boat race and rowing is an excellent way to get fit and lose weight. She trained to row across the English channel (around 23 miles) for charity. This was also at the time when she lost a lot of weight and there are suggestions that much of her weight loss was caused by all her rowing workouts.

Kate Middleton’s Diet

Kate is reported to follow a healthy diet always. She is naturally a sporty and active person and so also find eating healthy food a natural choice. She fuels her body well with healthy low GI carbohydrates, lean proteins and healthy fats, and exercises hard to burn off any excess energy that she has. This is really how simple a healthy diet and lifestyle should be.

In 2007 Kate actually lost quite a lot of weight and some people started to worry a little about her health. The stresses of being in the public eye was getting to her, then the news of her break-up with Prince William hit the press, adding more stress to her life. Like many people, being stressed led to a lack of appetite.

Kate Middleton’s Mom’s Dukan Diet for Weight Loss

Although little is know about Kate’s diet, there have been reports in the press that her mother, Carole, is on the Dukan Diet to lose weight for the wedding. In fact Kate’s mom’s diet led to speculation last week that there may be wedding plans. Apparently she lost 4 pounds in the first 4 days of the Dukan diet.

Kate Middleton’s Bikini Body

A while ago Kate was photographed on the beach and on a boat with Prince William and the tabloid press had a field day as she was seen in her bikini both times. This was also proof that she has a fantastically fit and healthy body. She looked athletic and lean, with a healthy balance of muscle and fat.

Kate’s life is very secretive, so we do not really know much about what she does at the moment to stay in shape, lose weight and keep fit. But, moms and daughters do share information on dieting, and a Dukan diet could be her secret.

She has certainly always been an athletic and healthy person though, so it could just be down to healthy, natural portion control and regular exercise.

Kate’s strict diet and fitness regime will certainly help her to shed her baby weight when she is ready.

Prince William’s Fitness Workouts

Prince William has always been in great shape, just like his brother Prince Harry, and his father Prince Charles. The Royals really are a healthy family, and proof that having extreme wealth does not always lead to excessive consumption, and that eating breakfast like a King can be a healthy start to a busy day.

If trends continue as they are now, by 2050 over 60% of all men in the highest social class will be obese, however, the Royal family stay in great shape. How do they do it?

Prince William Leads an Active and Healthy Lifestyle

The first thing to mention is that Prince William works for the Royal Air Force flying Sea King search and rescue helicopters. He performs his duty as any RAF pilot should, with professionalism and total dedication to the job. This includes eating a healthy diet and staying very fit.

Prince William the Sportsman

While at school and college Prince William played several sports, including soccer (he was captain of his house team at Eton College), swimming, basketball, cross country running and water polo. All of these sports require a high level of physical fitness.

In 2004 while studying at St. Andrews University he represented the Scottish National Universities Water Polo Team during the Celtic Nations championships. His codename was Steve during the tournament, and the press never caught on to the fact that he was Prince William of Wales.

Prince William The Explorer and Soldier

William took a gap year between Eton and Univesity. During this time he went on an expedition to Chile (run by Raleigh Internation) to teach children in a remote town called Tortel. This involved trekking and camping.

He also traveled with the British Army to Belize for army training that provided a foundation for him before he enrolled at Sandhurst after graduating from University.

Prince William’s Home Gym

Prince William arranged for a home gym to be built at Clarence House, so that his Kate could exercise in peace and quiet. Kate’s sister also trains at the gym, and there were reports that both Prince Harry and William enjoyed working out, doing press ups and other army fitness exercises.

Really it is Prince William’s entire lifestyle that allow him to stay in great shape. He is always active, both in work and in leisure. He does not spend his days sitting at a desk and his evenings sitting in front of the television. He has access to healthy food, and his work and Royal commitments means that he has the motivation to stay in great shape.

Prince William is tall and very athletic – at a recent trip to visit the troops in Afghanistan he appeared to tower over many of them. He is a fine role model of children in Great Britain and all over the World, and proof that being of a high social class is not a reason to become obese.

Without doubt Kate and Wills are brilliant role models for today’s children and adults. They are proof that being rich and having access to all the world’s luxuries does not result in obesity. They live life to the full, enjoy fine food and keep very active as they have learned to enjoy playing sports and staying in shape.

Prince George certainly has a couple of fit and healthy parents.

Only 4 days away from the big day and the World’s press is starting to work itself up into a frenzy. What will her dress look like? How fit will she look on the day? Possibly the future Queen of England, and the Commonwealth, Kate Middleton is to soon walk up the aisle to meet her Prince Charming, the tall and handsome Wills Windsor.

Hi Laurie, we have not seen or read anything to suggest that she has ever been on a diet. As mentioned in the article, by all accounts she simply eats a healthy and balanced diet and does plenty of exercise on a regular basis (having your own gym in a palace must help!). Apparently her mum followed the Dukan diet, no idea for how long, or if indeed it is actually true!

Well, Kate Middleton is now Princess Catherine, they have just got married at Westminster Abbey and are on their way to the party at Buck Palace as I type.

Kate was looking stunning, very relaxed, oozing with confidence. Her dress was splendid, with a modest train, a light veil, very modern and elegant, a timeless piece.

I am 27, 5.3 inches tall and weigh about 80 kgs, I was skinny till I reached my teen age and then gained extreme weight due to steroid medication given for the treatment of asthma, since then it has been terrible to lose weight.
Recently when I joined a new workplace and had to be seated in the same position for more than 10 hours a day, I gained further a lot more, now then my big wedding day is coming closer, I need to lose a hell lot of weight in a very short span. My main tuff areas are my belly and hip area. Please help me fast. I am running short on time. Thanx a lot in advance.

  8. MotleyHealth says:

Hi Khushi, you have to do 2 things: 1. Make time to exercise everyday. 2. No snacks at your desk. Eat healthy.
Also, while at work get up at least once per hour, just to stretch your legs and walk up and down a bit. This will improve circulation and health. You have to diet and exercise though to lose the fat on your hips and belly.
