We all want to have a good time this holiday season. From holiday parties to great food, there’s so much that we’re looking forward to. But as much as we want to have a great holiday season, chances are that we also want to reach our goals. Is there a way to combine the two? There sure is. Take a look at these tips on how to balance holiday fun with your holiday goals:
Get going earlier
If you have a busier schedule than you normally do, consider getting started a tad earlier than normal so that you can work out before your day gets going. While there may be a few days of adjusting to your new schedule, you can be confident that once you get used to it, working out in the morning becomes much easier. Then, all you have to do is keep it going for the rest of the month. It may take work, but you’ll not only feel good every day with movement to get started but you’ll feel great by the end of the month.
Incorporate walks
Before you reach for the weight loss pills, start walking every day. Whether it’s 30 minutes or it’s longer, you can trust that walking will help you to stay in shape and active despite your busy schedule. It’s easier to get in than going to the gym and you can even do it to run errands instead of driving. It’s also something you can do if you’re taking off on a holiday trip, making for a great way to connect with your friends or family that you may be visiting.
Go for a run
If you’re someone who enjoys more intense activity and you feel great when you get your heart rate up, start running through the holiday season. It’s an activity that can be done anywhere you may be and can be done near your home if you’re unable to make it to the gym. While it may be cold in some areas, with the proper gear, you can make it work. Just make sure you warm up and run at your pace. You’re just trying to stay active here, not try to run a marathon. You can save that for your new year goals.
Get an accountability buddy
If you want to make it easier to reach your health goals, it doesn’t hurt to have an accountability buddy to join you. Whether they live in the same city or they live elsewhere, having someone to check in with can get you out of bed in the morning and even make working out more fun for you. If you don’t have a friend who enjoys fitness like you do, work with a personal trainer who can help to keep you on track.
Join a new gym
While most people wait for the turn of the year to get started with a new gym membership, it doesn’t hurt to get going with one over the holidays. If the money that you pay makes you get to a gym class or you simply forward to what your new gym offers, it’s a worthwhile investment that can make staying active over the holidays that much easier.
Whether it’s Peloton, which provides you with stuff you can do at home or it’s a local franchise that allows you to pay a reasonable amount for membership, gyms can make staying fit and healthy a lot easier.
Staying on track with your health and fitness at the end of the year can certainly be a challenge, but with these tips in mind, it can become easier. Find a fitness buddy or schedule it. Your health is worth staying on top of, regardless of the season.
