Fat burning beads are banned

There has been a victory for the advocates of a rational approach to health and fitness this week, as a company that had been marketing fitness beads has been forced to stop marketing its snake oil in the UK.

The company claimed that wearing fat burning beads caused automatic weight loss. The company was preying on people who were overweight and willing to try anything other than strict diet and exercise to trim the fat down. In one advert the company claimed that Accu-Slim Beads worked “faster than total starvation”.

The beads are placed behind the ears, and this is supposed to magically melt fat. The company behind the fat burning beads is Global DM Licensing, based in Hong Kong. They have promised to stop mailing their product to UK addresses. Whether or not the Office of Fair Trading can prevent them from operating under a different name is not clear.

The company used the principals of Chinese medicine and acupuncture to help market its magic beads. They claimed that the beads manipulated acupuncture points behind the ear, which induced fat burning without diets, exercise or effort, and that customers could lose 30 pounds (15kg) of fat in one month, just by wearing the beads.

Alternative medicine does have some useful tools and remedies, which can help relieve stress and tension as well as treat some minor conditions, but there are no remedies for being overweight, other than changing diet and exercising.

Mike Haley from the Office of Fair Trading reports that “Every year thousands of people fall victim to misleading claims about products that promise weight loss without exercise or dieting”.

When it comes to fitness and weight loss, the best advice and help on the Internet is almost always free. The will to succeed and the knowledge of how to do it, are all that is required. Gimmicks, fads and magic marbles will not get our nation fit again – sweat and tears will though.

Please note: The company is now selling its beads under the name accutrim.

  1. Thank you Lissa for your great idea! I made a “snap bead” with medical tape and put it behind my left ear about 20 minutes ago. Also thank you Heidi for all your research info. I’ll change to my right ear in 9 days and of course also weigh myself. I’m also greatful for this site, thank you MotleyHealth for all the info. I have been doing Think and Lose for 2 months, (hypnosis) for weight loss and I have lost 10# in 2 months, eating very healthy and doing minimal exercise because I have very bad arthritis in both my knees and I need both knee replacements. I just thought speeding up my metabolism would be a great boost. I really wanted to try the Accu-trim beads but not for $136.90. So doing the homemade snap bead was a ‘aha moment’ !! Thank you all for the great comments on this sight. I’ll be back in 9 days to let you know what results I have. I have 114 pounds more to shed to reach my goal weight.

  2. Well, today was day 9 of wearing the “homemade” snap bead behind my left ear. I weighed myself this morning and I lost 3.2# in 9 days. I must say I have had more energy and so I have been using my Tony Little Gazelle 20 minutes everyday, 10 minutes in the morning and 10 minutes in the afternoon. My eating hasn’t changed, still eating healthy, I eat from the Mediterranean Diet Pyramid everyday. I found myself pressing the bead several times a day to stimulate it. Today I changed the bead from my left ear to my right ear for the next 9 days. We’ll see what happens. So far, so good. Now 111 more pounds to go!

  3. Well, I am so glad I did not purchase the beads! After 7 days of wearing the
“homemade snap bead” behind my right ear I had to just stop wearing it. My right ear is so irritated. Liquid just keeps seeping from my ear lobes. I have 3 pierced holes for earings on my earlobes. I have not worn any earings since putting the beads behind my ears though. I started with the left ear for 9 days, 9-8 to 9-17. I used medical tape and changed it everyother day because it was sticky and it did hurt sometimes. Then when I started on the right ear, 9-17 I used a non latex bandage that I cut to size. Well, I changed it everyday and used alcohol, but it still irritated my ear. So, after 7 days on my right ear, I’m calling it quits! I haven’t been on the scale so I don’t know if I’ve lost anymore weight or not. I’ve never been alergic to any kind of earings in the past, but maybe now the metal in the snap bead? I don’t know. I’m only very thankful that I didn’t pay out any money for them. I would like to know how any others have faired with the beads? Thanks. Rose

The beads can actually work. What you do is go to the park and then throw them as far as possible, then run after them. When you find them, pick them up, and repeat.

  5. Well, my ears cleared up after about 4 days. Now, I just got a new weight loss package in the mail selling “THE SIZE ZERO PATCH”. I’m wondering if these are the same people selling the beads? It’s a time release patch. They say you will be a size zero in days. It says 100% natural in one spot then in another it says:”Regular patches quickly release the drugs into your bloodstream producing a rapid and high concentration in the body, followed by a sharp decline. The Time-Release Patch maintains the perfect range in between; releasing at a constant rate over a period of time.” Sounds like drugs to me. It also says NOW AVAILABLE IN THE USA. Why is the US letting all these schemers sell their phony stuff here? Next we’ll be reading about people that have lost their lives from using these patches. They are even offering you $250 if you use it for 30 days and have lost 48 pounds. They are called The Healthy-Weight Centers of America, St. Petersburg, FL People that are overweight are bomb barded all the time with adds like these. I pray no one is that desperate. Rose

  6. I went to the scrapbook section of a local discount store and found a package of something called “dimensional pearl stickers.” They look remarkably like the beads so I bought them and put one on the back of my ear. The package costs $2 for 60 beads, so I am happy to use them to experiment with. Looking at an acupressure chart, I think about a third of the way up on the cartilage part of the ear is the best place to put the pressure. I’ll let you know if it works.

  7. I was really dumb and ordered the product and then started my research by looking on this site. Well, fortunately, after I ordered the bead containers, I called back and asked for a refund. He asked “Why?” and I said well I just saw 5,000 responses saying that it didn’t work. He replied, “Well do you believe everything you read?!” Well “no, but when 5,000 say it doesn’t work and like 5 say it does, then I do believe what I read, lol! Thanks everyone.

  8. I,am using the accutrim beads and they work.I,ve been using them for 21 days and have lost 15lbs,and not doing any special diet.

  9. Sandy, I’m very happy for you that they’re working. Are you using the real ones or the “homemade” beads? I just used plain old snaps stuck onto cut pieces of medical tape, but it made my ears irritated. I did loose 3.2# in a very short time though and I felt really energized, but my ears kept draining even though I changed them every day and used alcohol. I guess I’m just allergic. That’s great you’ve lost weight without changing your eating habits. I think that’s one thing that stalls people from loosing weight, having to change the way they eat. Or at least having to take away foods that they like. After a while, they stop the diet and go back to eating the foods they like. Maybe these accu beads are really the magic bullet we’re all looking for. Keep posting and let us know if you reach your goal weight. Then I wonder do you just have to wear the beads one day a week? One day a month? To maintain the weight loss. good luck.

  10. I received the flyer today in my mail box and the orders are made to Amsterdam!! [with a NZ fax number]. Is there a NZ contact for these beads? In reading the comments on this site, it seems like the beads have worked for some and not for others. My suggestion is for those who have bought the beads and not received success in their refund maybe they might like to sell them to someone else to try. That way, the buyer can guarantee that they will get some of their money back.

  11. I have to say that I read most of the comments on this board and was surprised by the negative feedback. I did not purchase the Accu-Slim beads but went to a certified person for accupressure and had the beads placed behind my ear. They actually put a bead on both ears that you wear for a full week an rotate on the odd hours of each day. I started this on September 15 as a birthday present for my 49th birthday. I had tried every diet imaginable as well as working out and eating healthy and still could not lose the 60 lbs that I had gained overnight.

The strict food requirement of dairy for two days and vegtables two days actually acts like a detox and after the first two weeks you really do not crave many things that you would have reach for. Although I am still seeing the person every week for the beads, I have applied regular beads that I picked up in the craft store to several family and friends who are all seeing similar results.

The diet is strict but I am not hungary the fat is melting off and the muscle is in tact, the one thing I did stop was working out since I felt the calorie consumption was too low to sustain my workout. So after Thanksgiving when I come off this diet I will be going back to the gym and watching what I eat so that I don’t gain this all back.

I am so glad that I did this diet and would recommend it to anyone who is tired of people telling you to eat right and exercise and you should be okay, they have not been down this road where you do eat right and exercise and the weight does not come off. If you do this you have to be committed to it and you will see results. I am proof since I was one of those people this is the best money that I have ever spent and I only wished I had known about this earlier.
These beads have been a blessing to me and my family the first week I lost 12.8 lbs and followed up with 7 lbs. the following week today I have lost a total of 45 lbs. I look great I feel great I am being complimented all the time.

  12. MotleyHealth says:

Hi Jenna, thanks for sharing. This just shows the difference between having a regular consultation with someone and buying something on the Internet or mail order with no contact with the company.

Also you say “the calorie consumption was too low to sustain my workout” – this is the key. You stuck to a diet. It is possible to do this without accupressure – millions do succeed every year. Exercise does not make you thin, calorie controlled dieting does. What you have here is the support to help you lose weight. Your weekly consultations. But maybe this could be achieved through a weight loss group?

  13. The beads do work! But under the right guidance. Both my kids were under the care of Charles Schwarts and lost considerable amounts of weight — 85 and 55 pounds.

  14. MotleyHealth says:

Josh, did Charles Schwarts prescribe anything other than wearing the beads? A new diet maybe? Exercise? According to his website a new diet is required, which explains the weight loss. Not the beads.

  15. I am not endorsing or comdemning the use of these beads. I will only say that for everything in life that works for some people, there will always be those who are quick to point twenty reasons why something can’t work. Usually there’s money involved in it for them, too. A great teacher about 2,000 years ago said: “It is done unto you according to your faith.” What do you believe will work for you? Have years of diet and exercise only made you fatter than ever? What’s missing? If diet and exercise was the only answer, why do so many people get so few lasting results? Most obese people I know eat less, work out more than trim people, and have incredible will-power, yet still can’t achieve a healthy weight. THERE IS STILL SOMETHING MISSING in the diet and exercise prescription and maybe it has to do with our faith. So, if you believe the beads will work, why not try it? It’s worked for some – and yes, maybe it is in conjunction with diet and exercise – but if it helps produce results, then go for it! From what I can tell from the interesting posts above, those who have gotten results from the Accu-Trim beads and from their own “fake” beads, maybe it’s because you believed they would work. So, I agree that diet and exercise are PART of the plan, but what if these beads are the “missing” part that helps you believe you can do it this time? Good luck and to everyone who is willing to explore other ways and other options besides the “not working so well” diet and exercise paradigm, I applaud you and wish you well.

  16. MotleyHealth says:

“If diet and exercise was the only answer, why do so many people get so few lasting results?”

Because so many people do it wrong.

  17. i just ordered the beads last night so hopefully i get them soon

  18. MotleyHealth says:

    Good luck with them Peyton.

  19. I also got caught in the hype and purchased the beads. I did try to do some research most of what I found was positive, until I came across this website(too late). I will definitely give it a try, without setting my hopes too high and see how it goes.

  20. For those who have not received your refund contact your bank and inform them that you are disputing this charge, why and what you have done to get your refund. They will open a claim and refund your money temporarily and then go after the company for the funds. Good luck!

  21. I have just purchased the beads because I know that acupuncture and acupressure has worked for me for other things. I also had a friend who got off of methadone, ( a highly addictive substance) using auricular acupuncture. they offer a money back guarantee so I am not worried. I’m going to give it a try and make sure I place it on the exact acupressure point. This is really important. I’ll let you all know what happens. I have 80 lbs to let go of.

  22. dog food c says:

I just couldnt leave your website before saying that I really enjoyed the high quality information you will offer you to your visitors… Definitely will be back often to check up on new stuff you post!

  23. MotleyHealth says:

Glad you liked the site Dog Food C.

  24. I have gotten the flyer too. I was thinking I should check this out, got on the computer and went to Google and here you are, this is a good way to find out what others say, I will not waste my money on the beads. I did try the magnet’s for my pain on my finger. It is the size of a pea, that helped. But I lost the small magnet. Thanks for sharing all your comments .

  25. My husband and I just started with the beads last week. We are doing them with Charles Schwartz. So far, so good. My husband lost 7 pounds and I lost 2.5lbs. I feel great! I’m happy with the diet so far.

  26. MotleyHealth says:

Hi Laura, can you say more about the diet? It would be an interesting experiment if either you or your husband stopped wearing the beads but followed the same diet.

  27. The diet, doesn’t sound the healthiest.
The Rules: You can only eat between 12:00 and 6:00pm. For two days you have 20oz of milk/yogurt, regular not low fat. Then two days of fruit and veg. (two fruits and up to 2lbs of veg). You can drink as much calorie free beverages as you like. (The placement of the bead need to be changed every 7-9 days, and you massage the beads every two hours.) Following the strict diet isn’t very difficult because you don’t feel hungry (after the 1st day).
On the website, under “mission” it describes a study in which some subjects followed just the diet, some did just beads, and some did both. The “both” group lost the most weight.
After you lose the weight their is a transition program. I’m not sure what that is yet.
I know it doesn’t sound like the healthiest diet, I had been doing weight watchers (which I recommend as well) – – but I’ve hit a plateau (spelling ?) and I really want to lose 8 more 1bs.
Hopefully I can keep the weight off after I go off the beads. I’ll let ya know. I’ve always been againt fad diets – but thought I’d give it a try since my husbands friend had such success.

  28. i have just purchaced the beads before finding this website. No doubt in my mind that the beads will help your body somehow. as people have said above, they are at least getting better sleep. i have 50 pounds to lose to get to my ideal weight. i will try it and keep you all updated. This might be a fad diet but at least we are out there searching for things to help us become heathy. Motley health however is very true when they say there is no substitute for excersice. as well putting healthy foods in our bodies. good luck everyone! we will all make it to our ideal one day, just dont give up. dont get mad for trying the bead diet. it is just one step closer to you succeeding

  29. I purchased and have been using the beads for a week now. As suspected, I haven’t lost an ounce! However, I haven’t gained either and there have been several days that I consumed way too many calories with both food and alcohol. I too have been confused on the exact location of where to place the bead and why it says to remove before bed. I am a firm believer in eating healthy(most of the time)and regular exercise. I played semi-pro womens football on and off for 10yrs so I am no stranger to exercise, but since starting a new job 2yrs ago, I have been so exhausted all the time and have difficulty getting into a regular exercise routine. I eat healthy most of the time. I do need to lose about 15-20lbs. I was hoping I would lose a few pounds with the beads and then maybe I would feel well enough to get back into the game with my exercise. For those of you out there who are looking to lose weight and get in shape, Bill Phillips “Eating for life” book is fabulous!! 150 everyday recipes easy and enjoyable for the whole family. I think I will set my goal a little lower by just trying to get in 20 min. cardio 3x’s/week and once I am consistent with that, I will add weight training 3x’s/week. Eating healthy and regular exercise should be a lifestyle and it has many other benefits besides looking good, so just remember that. Heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, stress etc. can all be controlled by eating healthy and regular exercise. Good luck to everyone!

  30. MotleyHealth says:

I always recommend that people do cardio everyday. Why? Because if you do it 3 times a week, you find an excuse not to do it today, to catch up tomorrow. If you plan to workout everyday, you never miss a workout, as you cannot trick yourself into believing that you will catch up tomorrow! So do 20 minutes a day, and in the last 5 minutes do at least 2 “sprint intervals” of 30 seconds, with 2.5 minutes recovery after the first and then 2.5 minutes recovery / cool down after the last. Then start to extend your workouts by a few minutes each week, adding another sprint.

  31. Everybody i lost 27 pounds on this im serious. I bought them again and im happy. But if your over 30 this will not be the best way to lose weight becase it work better on younger people body then older. Im telling the true.

  32. MotleyHealth says:

Lynnet, please could you elaborate. Did you adjust your diet and exercise more as well is stick the beads behind your ear? How much did you weigh before losing 27 pounds and how quickly did you lose the weight. Also, why do you think that it only works on people under 30? Do you have any scientific backing for this claim?

  33. I was ready to order the accutrim beads. Then logic kicked in & I decided to look up information on the product. I sure am glad I did. The order form went into the trash. I have tried so darn many weight loss programs that I can’t even count. I need to lose 80 lbs. I have high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, arthritis, & heartburn. I am on medication for all except the diabetes, but if I keep up as I am, I’ll be taking medication for the diabetes also. I have a hard time controlling my hunger. Every diet aid says it helps control your hunger but it seems to no longer work after a week. I try to eat healthy but eat too large of portions due to the hunger. I’ve tried eating slower, faster, drinking lots of water, etc, etc. None of it works. I am always tired, so rarely exercise & when I do try to exercise I can’t do it for very long because of my arthritis (neck, shoulders, knees, hips, ankles). I like to walk but can’t even do that anymore. I tried Medifast & lost 10 lbs but the same food all of the time got really old & then I got to a stand still & couldn’t lose anymore. If you have any suggestions, I could really use them. I’m 64, look a lot younger, still work outside the home. My husband passed away in 2005 but my adult son lives with me so he does the cooking, but cooks healthy food. I do get depressed due to my situation, weight & lonelyness, but I had my perfect soulmate, so don’t want anyone else, just my 3 dogs. Just would like to lose the weight & hopefully get off of all of my medications & be healthier.

  34. I have been on this diet – accubead for a 5 days. I feel fabulous. It’s not just putting the beads on and doing nothing. It’s rotating the beads every odd hour, eating what’s on the diet (2 days of fruit and veggies and 2 days of milk) and incorporating qi gong breathing every odd hour. All of the above work. The breathing is meditative and gives you energy, the beads are accupressure and it’s a low cal, low carb diet. And, that’s just what it is – a diet. If you expect to go back to eating waffles and ice cream right after, of course you will gain the weight back. It’s working for me so far, I have a lot of energy, sleep well, wake up when the sun rises and have a great sense of accomplishment daily. I am losing as it says I would – so far 5.8 lbs. There is a transition stage which helps you “reintroduce” other foods so as not to gain everything back, but to change your habits – why not continue with qi gong? It’s a meditation method and creates energy… if you disagree with it, do something else… clearly if you need to lose weight, you need to diet and lose before you can maintain.

  35. MotleyHealth says:

Hi Tina. Do you really think that the beads are the reason for your weight loss? If you instead just did the diet, maybe this would help too?

I have nothing against qi gong, I have studied Tai Chi and some Bagua and Qi gong during my martial art studies. It is a good way to exercise and has some other benefits too. What I am really against is the commercialisation and exploitation of any form of Eastern philosophy or practice, and these accutrim/accuslim beads really do seem to exploit this. I still stand by the comment I made in one of the first discussions here, that doing the low calorie / low carb diet while wearing pink socks will probably have the same benefits as doing it with beads behind your ear.

A low carb diet is a low sugar diet. By reducing sugar you reduce the insulin response, blood sugar spikes and crashes etc. and this reduces hunger pangs and cravings. You control your hunger through diet. A low GI diet has the same effect. There is no evidence whatsoever that the beads or any type of Eastern medicine, whether it be acupressure, accupuncture or breathing exercises are the reason for the reduction in hunger and subsequent weight loss. There is a lot of scientific evidence that supports the fact that a low sugar diet curbs appetite and helps people lose weight. Carry on your healthy diet and healthy lifestyle, and try it without the beads. You may be pleasantly surprised with the results.

  36. My husband and I have been doing the beads as well. I tried the diet alone. Since it is so expensive. No luck – – I was starving by night fall and would give in to the need to eat. The beads definitely make it doable. It may be psychosomatic but it does seem to work.

  37. Maybe it’s not the beads or the breathing… but it’s working. It’s comparative to religion, if something works for you… why not? Who would want you to stop? Other than someone who wants you to try it their way… It’s working for me, I feel fantastic – if you’re open-minded, where’s the harm? I’m losing weight, feel great and have energy and I’m not suffering. I would highly recommend it. Why is anyone else so concerned where people are spending their money …?

  38. lomalindarn says:

Bonnie J took the words right out of my mouth.

I was on the verge of ordering Press Point from Acupro, Inc., until I found this site.

I have to admit that it is all so confusing. I mean I know that permanent weight loss/management is a lifestyle choice, but there are many of us who suffer physical pains and depression as a result of being overweight and we need that boost of easy loss in order to encourage our commitment to improve.

As a result of this article, I went to Accu-Trim to see what they were doing now. They seem highly commercialized and unrealistically fantastic, BUT their 100% Risk Free Lifetime Guarantee is compelling. In other words, the only deficit would be shipping/handling, I guess.

  39. I’m back – 4 days later and feel even better than I did the other day. The beads and breathing make a difference – of course the food does as well. But let’s just say, every two hours, you took a minute or two to just sit and rub behind your ears and do some deep breathing… you will feel better MENTALLY… which leads to emotional health… which leads to less emotional eating … the food plan works – I feel fabulous – sleeping better, more relaxed yet tons of energy. It might not be for everyone but it’s doing wonders for me. I check my weight again tonite – so far I think it’s every couple days you check, they give a chart for tracking… I think I’ve dropped about 7 lbs, but I am NOT hungry and the inches lost are more noticeable – I’m sticking with it. I love it!

  40. Tina, sounds like you don’t work outside the home. I leave for work @6:45 am & don’t return home till around 6:30 pm everyday. I am very busy all day so do not have time for the breathing, exercise or food program. Glad it works for you but most overweight people have a problem with your routine. Another point is that some people such as myself really like food so find lack of food very hard to handle. Those that just eat because they need to eat & don’t love food find it easier to handle decreased food diets.

  41. MotleyHealth says:

I doubt there is a single overweight person out there who does not like food!

The trick in proper dieting is to reduce sugar and increase proteins while also ensuring you get plenty of water. Sugar makes you feel hungry, proteins and water make you feel full. Hop over to the MCD Weight Loss Plan to learn more.

  42. Hi Bonnie. I LOVE food. Hence, needing to be on a diet. As a matter of fact, I tend to be “obsessed” for lack of a better word with some foods – sweets! Portion control or choosing healthy foods are my big problems. Also, I work at a law firm – a busy one. I also have a second part-time job. So, I am not sitting home in my yoga clothes all day waiting for the buzzer to go off so I can do the breathing – which, by the way, takes approximately 1 minute. I get up a little early (maybe 1/2 hour or an hour) to do the exercise – which I do with the on-demand cable fitness so it’s right in my living room. And, I eat what the diet says. So, the secret for me to begin was to stop making excuses and just start. You cannot be consistent and successful with anything until you give it a shot. Give yourself a shot. Even if you don’t try the beads. Stop saying “I can’t because …” and just try it for one day. Don’t even use the beads, just believe. That’s what I believe is working – and the breathing part and going by someone else’s food plan (because mine wasn’t working) is truly what I believe is helping me. What I find interesting is that it is easier to get up earlier because I am eating better which is helping me sleep better… it all works together. Hope you’ll try something. p.s. if I had it my way, I wouldn’t work and I’d eat whatever I wanted, so if I make this sound easy, it’s because I have to change my thoughts to change my life.

  43. MotleyHealth says:

Tina, the only way to really get over your obsession (addiction) to sweets is to go cold turkey. Just stop eating them. Within a few weeks your sugar addiction will have reduced and you will start to wonder why you wanted sweets all the time. A word of caution – ensure in future all sweets / sugar / junk is hidden in your house. Put it all away somewhere where you do not need to see it.

  44. Thanks you. I will take a look at that. I am doing very well on the bead diet though and I get fruit which seems to be satisfying my needs. I am not hungry either which leads me to believe that the beads and breathing really are working… this is the first diet I’ve been on which leaves me feeling satisfied. haha – I know all about addiction! that’s how I knew the word obsession was correct. :) I’m going to check that Hidden Cookie Diet out also. Thanks.

  45. Oh my. I just looked at the Hidden Cookie Diet. I am not sure who is on the other side of this but I do believe it should be someone who has overcome being overweight at some point. If I could “just stop” eating certain things, I probably wouldn’t need to be on a diet in the first place. Hiding cookies in my kitchen? I still know they are there. this is where the “it takes one to know one comes in…” it’s just not that easy for me. This is why I believe the bead diet works for me. It takes away the obsession and cravings.

  46. MotleyHealth says:

It is written by someone that has been overweight and lost weight. It is a simple trick that works for some and not others. It worked for me. Out of sight out of mind. I still eat some cookies (very bad I know) but now I decide I want one (and only ever 1) and then go and get it, rather than see them and grab one without thinking. Every little helps.

  47. lomalindarn says:

Congratulations, Tina, on keeping up with your restrictive diet. I say this because I have done nothing since my last post on this thread but to become much more educated with Accuweight, AKA The Bead Diet.

Now, it is a relatively small operation (they do not advertise) because they truly focus on personalized attention. Many persons employed by this company, including the owner herself, has at one point or another participated in this diet themselves, because they have all of the facts on the health and efficacy of the program and participated under monitoring of a physician.

I need to draw a distinction between Accuweight and other bead diets out there, because there is a difference from what I understand. I mentioned in my above post, “Press Point” which is far more economical than Accueweight, but that is because it requires you to place the beads in areas of the ear that regulate digestive hunger, i.e. the stomach, so you don’t feel like you’re starving, but does nothing to reset your base weight which requires a different placement of the beads to communicate with your hypothalamus (in the brain) in order to signal both satiety and stability of weight.

Look, after the research I have done, I would not trust Accu-trim or -slim, nor would I be confident with Press Point, because of the placement of the beads being either in or on the ear itself. On the other hand, I am compelled to go with Accuweight, and possibly The Sadkhin Complex due to the placement of the beads BEHIND THE EARS, ON THE HEAD where points are linked to the brain. I should mention that I attempted to contact The Sadkhin Complex, but no one returned my message and they seem frustrated with any competition, issuing severe warnings about copycats. I just didn’t get a good feel about them. I contacted Accuweight, and at first it was difficult getting a response, because apparently I was phoning a clinic location directly, who aren’t typically accustomed to dealing with the Long-Distance Program, which operates by email and phone appointments. Also, before I jumped the gun and called, I should have listened to their online recorded “Orientation” and “Training” which answers many if not all questions. Once I did this, I was even more encouraged to give this a try.

Again, rather than just saying “anyone” can do this, Accuweight actually cautions everyone to take the time to make sure they are making an informed and comfortable decision to do this program because it is so restrictive.

By the way, the minimal food allowance of the program is designed with required nutrition in mind. They are giving your body the exact and ideal nutrition it requires, when it requires it, and they are strict about not adding in certain types of foods/ingredients, so as to not contradict the chemistry of the food intake which allows for maximum FAT loss.

Reading this post, I probably sound like I work for them, but I can assure you that I don’t. I am looking for a rapid loss program that addresses food addiction, will power and doesn’t compromise my health, and I know of no other diet that can offer all of these components.

So, remember, the bead placement and pressure is intended to do two things, signal the hypothalamus that fullness and normal weight have been achieved, and the Chi Gong breathing technique is designed to alleviate stress about resisting temptation to indulge in any unhealthy or imbalanced food that is not allowed on the program.

I should also warn that many who have participated in this program have reported intense hunger for the first 3-7 days while the body adjusts to the decreased food intake, but accurate bead placement and pressure is suppose to remedy this.

We are still here. How are you?

    Miserable. Thanks for asking.

It is my 2nd day of this very persuasive program and I feel I was way too ambitious to0 begin with the 2 milk days and nothing more (*exception – water).

Here is what I feel now that I am experiencing this 1st hand. I don’t feel that the bead placement or pressure results in suppression of hunger. Obviously, however I cannot discount the testimonies from persons who steadfastly support the real bead diet, known as Accuweight.

I have online chatted with gals who have lost what I am looking to lose within the timeframe I am looking to achieve my goal, as well.

Accuweight cautions that this is not for everyone and that the restrictive diet cannot be altered in terms of amount or type of foods.

Until you reach your goal, they discourage exercising more than just general walks, UNLESS you are already accustomed to intense exercise. Still, the recommendation is to do this only a feel-good basis. The achievers with whom I have communicated who were significantly overweight, as am I, stated that they did not exercise, until they reached their goal and felt thin, fit, healthy and strong.

One of my concerns was that rapid weight loss tends to leave your skin hanging off your bones. The general census is that this does not happen. What is most remarkable is that most maintain, so long as they have patiently and correctly engaged their transition phase.

We will see. I have told myself that I will have birthday cake in January, but hopefully I won’t want it by then.
