Question
Hi
I am 21. My weight is 65kgs. I have irregular periods and have developed fat on waist, hips and thighs
I exercise 4 times a week and I have completely stopped eating rice since a very long time. Most of the time I control my cravings for fast food, yet there is no change in my weigh.
I cannot even see the fat getting reduced. Sometimes I need a motivation for exercising or else I just lie on the bed or keep sitting.
Please suggest something as soon as possible.

Answer
Hi Poorva
Motivation is probably the most important factor in health and fitness. Doing nothing and eating junk food is always the easy option and when motivation is lacking, this is what many people end up doing.
You need to sit down to decide why you want to lose weight. Is it to look better, to be healthier, to have more energy, to be fitter? Maybe all of these reasons. Write them all down and keep this list close by. Some other examples:
- Visualize how to want to look
- Imagine being fit and healthy
- Plan to wear your old clothes
There are some methods that you could try that might help you to become more motivated, such as Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and meditation.
You say that you are exercising four times a week – this is excellent!
Make sure that you are pushing yourself to work harder though – do more each week so that you get fitter and burn more calories.
Cutting out rice is a great idea but if you are still snacking on junk food on a regular basis YOU HAVE TO STOP this. This is the reason for no weight loss. It only takes a little junk food a few times a week to prevent you from losing weight.
The type of exercise that you do is also important. Mix it up, try some weight training, running, cycling, bodyweight circuits or something else – do not just do the same workout every day. A varied workout means that you exercise more muscles and this helps you to get fitter, more toned and burn more energy.
