Walking is good for your memory and weight

Walking is a great way to stay in shape. If you walk for a hour every day you will exercise your cardiovascular system and burn a few calories too.

But that is not all. Recent research carried out by scientists at the University of Pittsburgh and published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences shows that a regular walk can help ward off dementia and age related memory loss in some people.

Walking is not the only way to prevent dementia though. Any regular exercise can help, whether is be swimming, cycling, tai chi or weight training. Just keeping the body active can keep the brain active too.

It is also never too late to get active, as even in older subject that had not exercised for a long time improvements in mental health were seen once they started exercising.
