Sam Worthington plays Perseus in the remake of the film Clash of the Titans. Although most of the film is CGI, Sam Worthington is all good old fashioned flesh and muscle.
Sam Worthington almost shot to greater fame several years before Clash of the Titans as he was on the shortlist of actors to play James Bond after Pierce Brosnan left the role. Daniel Craig beat him to it though. In 2009 Sam Worthington appeared in the massive CGI hit Avatar, where he played Jake Sully, and before that was in Terminator: Salvation.
Sam has grown to love physical films and certainly hopes to do more, reportedly saying that he craved a gun and a sword while filming Last Night opposite Keira Knightley, and did not get the same rush even when doing the kissing scenes.
“To me an action hero means I am willing to dive in and be physical. Jason Bourne is an action hero but there’s an intellect, and I’m trying to bring the emotional side to it.”
What makes Sam Worthington a different sort of action hero is that he admits that he is not a fan of the gym at all. He does not really workout.
Sam has just always lived an active life (he worked as a bricklayer for a while before joining an acting college) and does not spend all his spare time eating. He is proof that a simple yet healthy lifestyle can give you a Hollywood body.
As for his diet, he told one celebrity magazine that he likes to eat pepperoni pizza, not exactly your traditional Hollywood action hero diet!
