We first wrote about Miley Cyrus in 2010, when she was best known as Hannah Montana, a Disney teenage comedy-drama – you can read our 2010 article below.
However, in recent months Miley has been in the news a fair bit, mostly for her “twerking” moves on Robin Thicke at the Video Music Awards in 2013. For readers who are not aware what twerking is, in this case it involved Miley bending over in front of Robin Thicke and shaking her bottom at his groin. I think you get the picture, but if you don’t there is a photo below. It was certainly not a Disney production!
As well as her famous twerking moves (which has inspired some people to create twerking workouts, aka Twerk Outs, and branded The Vixen Workout – where will it all end???) she has also started to develop a set of abs, albeit very small ones. In October 2013 Miley’s Pilates instructor, Mari Winsor, spoke to People magazine about Miley’s workouts, and specifically her abs.
30 minutes crunches / ab work a day
Miley is doing around 30 minutes of crunches and other ab work every day, according to Mari Winsor. Miley has had a gym built at her home so that she can workout whenever she wants.
Of course, doing a lot of abs workouts may work for Miley because she is so slim. If you have a very low percentage of body fat you can just work on building and toning muscle. It is really only those who are overweight that need to follow a good diet and get more cardio in to lose weight.
Miley’s Pilates workouts also tone her legs and upper body, so it is certainly not all about the abs. But Miley’s abs are on show a lot more nowadays.
Miley is of course also very young still. When you are 20 years old and live an active life, weight is rarely a problem. She will be burning off everything she eats just running around with her hectic work schedule. For Miley, exercising her abs and legs is probably more of a way to relax than an absolute necessity.
Miley Cyrus – up to 2010
Miley Cyrus, better known by her fictional character Hannah Montana, is slowly turning from teenage singing sitcom star into an adult professional. Her music career is now taking off and things are looking good for her. She has appeared in High School Musical 2, The Last Song, Sex and The City 2 and is currently filming So Undercover.
Miley Cyrus Speaks About Weight
Miley has already had attacks for being “fat”. She was recently seen in photos on a beach wearing a bikini, and some people remarked that she looked a bit fat. This is obviously not the case – she is a perfectly healthy weight and in good shape. In fact, ClevverTV rated her as having the Best Beach Body. Miley actually gave some healthy advice recently;
“if your thighs don’t jiggle go see a doctor.”
She was attacking the people in Hollywood that are too skinny and suggesting that they should get a bit curvier. So, how does she workout and diet to stay in great shape?
Miley Cyrus’ Diet
In 2008 there were reports that Miley was on the 5-Factor Diet Plan, a weight loss plan that is popular amongst Hollywood Celebrities. When she was just 14 years old Miley hired Harley Pasternak to be her personal trainer, and he has also trained Jessica Simpson, Halle Berry and Seth Rogen.
Really her diet is just about healthy eating – avoiding all junk food, snacks, takeaways and alcohol and eating healthy and nutritious vegetables, fruits, lean meats and dairy. Healthy food fuels the body and vitalises, unhealthy food makes you feel tired and sluggish and leads to weight gain.
Miley Cyrus Fitness Workouts
As Miley is following the 5-Factor approach to fitness and weight management she performs short but intensive workouts to stay in shape. This method is ideal for people with a busy schedule.
The 5-Factor fitness system breaks workouts down into 5 minute sections which can be performed individually or combined.
Also the workouts do not require any more equipment than a weight training bench and a pair of dumbbells.
