Kim Kardashian’s gruelling diet and fitness plan

Kim Kardashian is planning to share a daily photo of herself during her gruelling diet and baby body plan, which she is following to lose her post-baby fat. Rather than just blogging her workouts and diet she has agreed on a publishing deal for her weight loss diary and before and after photos.

Kim gave birth in June 2013 and by October 2013 she was in great shape. In just four months she got her pre-baby figure back. How? It was all hard work and healthy eating.

According to Kim’s management people, “Kim is loving the idea of a post-baby body visual diary, showing her weight loss.” These photos will not be the usual tabloid paparazzi photos, but ones she has taken of her self (Kim Kardashian selfies maybe?) while losing weight. In the past Kim has posted selfies to Instagram, but in recent months she stopped doing this – now we know why. She is planning on including them in an exclusive publication.

What we already know

We already have a good idea of what Kim did to lose her baby weight. In June 2013 the Daily Mail published an article about the brutal exercise regime Kim Kardashian planned to use to lose weight. The information came direct from her personal trainer, Gunnar Peterson.

One of the exercises that Gunnar got Kim to do was the “Sled training”. This involves pushing a weighted sled along the gym floor as quickly as possible. Similar exercises are done by athletes and sports persons – these exercises are designed to built strength, power and speed. There are no heart rate zones or static holds here, it is all about brutal force to burn calories and tone up.

Other exercises include standard weight training moves such as deadlifts and squats, and for cardio boxing sessions and rowing.

Gunnar Peterson also trained Penélope Cruz – Kim and Penélope have similar figures and fitness goals. We discussed Gunnar’s methods in the Cruz article; the main emphasis is on his “Core Four, Plus One More” method, which involves performing four core exercises each session plus one additional targeted exercise.

Workout three to five days a week

Gunnar says that the best results are from doing three to five hard workouts each week. Kim calls him an ‘amazing trainer’.

“We always mix strength moves with cardio intervals and I find that combination is what really works best for me… but everyone is different.”

Kim’s workout DVD

Kim already has a workout DVD (released Dec 2011) in which she share the exercises that helped her get in shape. The DVD is called “Fit in Your Jeans by Friday: 3 10-Minute Step Workouts to Define Your Legs and Butt!” The DVD is available on Amazon and other stores: KIM KARDASHIAN Fit in Your Jeans by Friday 3 10-Minute Step Workouts to Define Your Legs and Butt! [DVD].

It is sometimes hard to imagine how exactly Kim will fit her ample sized butt into a pair of skinny jeans, but if she says she can, she can!

Kim’s Oiled Butt

Kim has decided to take her famous derrière to the extreme by displaying it in all its glistening glory on the front cover of Paper, a New York publication (Winter 2014). It has received a lot of attention, especially because inside the magazine showed some full frontal nudity photos of her too.

This does raise the question – is life imitating art, or vice versa? Was Kim Kardashian obsessed with her own butt before the media got so excited about it? And, what is considered to be so special about one woman’s backside to display it on the front of a magazine (apart from the masses of publicity it has developed for Kim and Paper).

The story in Paper does touch on this whole phenomenon. From what we can gather, Kim is very much in control of how she is portrayed in the media today – she is driving this image of super curvy, celebrity, mother, sex symbol. 1. Kim Kardashian is a brand. That’s what she does. It is only realistic for people who have nothing to do but look beautiful. The only one who will succeed in keeping the weight off and the body beautiful is Kim. She will also make millions on her book. Personally I am not going to be one who buys it.

That is a good point Donna. For somebody in her position there is a great incentive to lose weight too – the brand would suffer if she did not. Same with most celebrities really. Their careers rely on them staying in shape. For the rest of us, our managers don’t care if we are fat and unhealthy, only that we are working as hard as we should be.
