Kerry Katona was in the girl band Atomic Kitten and several television shows, she is also an advertising actress. Kerry had a troubled childhood, often living in foster care with an interrupted education, as she changed school 7 times. At the age of 16 she became a lap dancer and after this she was a glamor model for a short period. She found success in pop music in 1999 when she joined Atomic Kitten at just 18 years old.
The last few years have been troubled again with photos of her taking drugs appearing in the press which led to her losing some contracts and getting into financial problems. She has been in The Priory, a private hospital that helps patients with addictions and mental health problems, where she has received aid with her bipolar disorder.
She is certainly not a role model for health, having been photographed drunk on many occasions. In 2008 she appeared on live morning television suffering from either the effect of alcohol or strong prescription drugs for her bipolar disorder. Her speech was very slurred and many people assumed that she was drinking heavily at the time.
All of these problems in recent years led to her gaining a lot of weight, but now she has managed to lose the weight and is getting her life back on track. How did she lose weight?
How Did Kerry Katona Lose Weight?
Kerry says that she lost all her weight by simply going on a diet that involved eating nothing but healthy salads and drinking water. All junk food, bread, alcohol, sugary foods and drinks were eliminated from her diet. In 2008 she reached almost 200 pounds but managed to lose a lot of that weight in 2009 by eating just breakfast cereal, salads and protein shakes.
This year she lost more weight, again by restricting her calories. She has also managed to control her alcohol and drug problems and even has a new boyfriend.
Kerry’s Salad Diet
Salads can be very healthy. It is important to avoid sugary/fat dressings, seasoning with a pinch of salt and pepper instead. You can also use olive oil and balsamic vinegar as a dressing to keep the calories limited. A typical healthy salad would include:
- Iceberg lettuce
- Shredded carrots
- Hard boiled egg
- Turkey or chicken
- Cheddar cheese
- Parmesan cheese
- Sunflower Seeds
However, any raw salad vegetables work really well, so you can include whatever is available at the time. Leaves such as rocket, kale and spinach add more flavor. Sweet peppers, celery, radishes, beetroot and onions all make a salad more interesting too.
Drink only water when on a salad diet. This aids digestion, but also keeps calories down to a minimum. Water is the only calorie free drink. If you plan on doing a lot of exercise while on this diet then do as Kerry does and also have a protein shake afterwards.
