Zumba Latin Dance Workouts

Zumba is the latest fitness dance craze. It uses Latin / South American dance moves to create a fun, energetic and intensive workout. Zumba was developed by dancer and choreographer Alberto ‘Beto’ Perez. Zumba Workouts are becoming popular for home fitness with the release of several DVDs. (Shop for Zumba DVD’s)

Zumba is still relatively young. On October 15, 2007 it was featured on the Today Show (see second video below). It has proved to be an excellent way to lose weight and get in shape. For those that are not interested in martial arts, running or going to the gym, Zumba is an excellent choice. It is fun, it is more like a night out than exercise!

A Zumba workout mixes dance derived from Latin music with step aerobics. The routines feature aerobic interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms to exercise and tone the body. It targets areas such as the glutes, legs, arms and abdominals. You do not have to know how to dance to do Zumba.

Inspired by Latin dance and music, Zumba uses a variety of styles in its routines, including Samba, Cumbia, Merengue, Salsa, Reggaeton, Hip Hop, Mambo, Rumba, Flamenco, and Calypso and Salsaton. Music selections include both fast and slow rhythms.

Hi Bonnie. It is never too late to start dance, just start easy. There are plenty of DVD’s over at your store, not so sure about tapes. Do you mean VHS or music cassette tapes?
