Is Your Artificial Sweetener Killing You?

Pot of Coffee - Sweetened with poison

Advertorial by Frank Chambers

For decades people have been arguing about the benefits of artificial sweeteners such as aspartame or saccharin. People turn to artificial sweeteners either because they are becoming health conscious, they are obese or they need to control their glucose. The act in itself is very noteworthy.

continued below ....

Taking steps to improve health and well being is something to be proud of. Lurking in that sweetener you are using, however, may be chemicals that are doing more harm than good. In fact, some of them may be causing the exact opposite affect that you want to achieve.

Citizens have been raging war with the FDA over some of the harmful chemicals and adverse affects of some of the artificial sweeteners. One in particular is Aspartame. Although the FDA sticks with the story that none of their studies show it to be dangerous, the fact still remains that Aspartame is 10% Methanol. Methanol, when it enters the intestines becomes formaldehyde. It then becomes formic acid. If more people knew that, would they continue to use that sweetener? It doesn’t seem very natural or healthy.

After years of debate, the FDA did approve as a supplement an herb that has been used for centuries in other countries. The Stevia sweetleaf comes from Central and South America originally and it is part of a sunflower type of plant. Centuries ago, people started using this leaf to sweeten tea, but they also used it for medicinal purposes. It has been known to help gastric upset, reduce tooth decay and a variety of other ailments. This is an herb with hundreds of years of trial and error and it has been found to be 100% safe. Besides that, it is 350 times sweeter than sucrose.

Through the centuries, the Stevia leaf has been eaten whole, and crushed into a powder. Today it is normally sold in liquid or powder form. Some people buy the plant and grow their own leaves. Either way, it is completely natural. There are no chemicals in it that sound like it was produced in a lab (like most artificial sweeteners are) and there are no negative side affects. Studies show, in fact, that consuming the Stevia extract powder reduces cravings for sweets and fatty foods. It also has been known to help high blood pressure and help stabilize glucose levels.

Why take a product that produces the opposite affect of what you desire? Most artificial sweeteners are produced in laboratories. The Stevia leaf is produced by nature. Stevia extracts, powders and liquids are produced from 100% Stevia leaf unless otherwise noted.

Deciding to use an artificial sweetener is a step in the right direction. Choosing the best artificial sweetener is the next step. Harmful chemicals have no place in foods, not even artificial sweeteners. There is nothing to lose and everything to gain by choosing a sweetener that is natural, healthy and organic that tastes good too!
