I wonder for how long people would feel hungry all the time though, if this form of eating was adopted for longer term. Grazing is possibly a more natural way for humans to eat. Although some theories are that we developed to run long distances to hunt too.

Maybe a really natural diet would be a few days of easy grazing followed by a 24 hour endurance run with a massive plate of animal protein at the end.

But, a lack of protein may also have been simply because we are fussy eaters now. Prehistoric humans probably would have been happy to eat grubs, worms and insects - many societies still do today.

you forgot to mention that even though all the food was balaced and had a reasonable calorific value that one conclusion was that the people were hungry most of the time as they couldnt stomach consuming all their daily allowance - which is why they all lost weight - the benefits or their health were good short term but it was concluded that it was not healthily sustainable in the longterm for humans due to pur digestive systems and the ongoing lack of proteins in the diet plus the fact that they needed to be constantly eating all day

Oh, I think cavemen would have easily eaten any meat on the go, it was "cavemen" that are responsible for killing all the mammoths remember, and they were pretty big herbivores. But there would have been a fruit and shell fish too.

I agree this is not the caveman diet considering we would of lived of fish and fruit more then a nice fillet of steak, which would not of been available back then as even the herbivores were 3 times the size of a normal cow cavemen ate what ever they could gather which would usually mean shell fish deer and fruit.

The diet Peter Andre has been put on does not allow fruit, the original palaeolithic diet does. You are right, what Peter Andre is on not really a "caveman" diet. The "recommended foods in the caveman diet" are the types of food that we believe prehistoric man would have eaten, and are not the foods that Peter Andre was eating as part of his diet. I have updated the article and this hopefully explains this better.

I would like to quote that this diet is absolute BS, cave men did not consume a high animal protein diet as meat was sparce, do not have the impression that cave men were running around with spears tying to kill wooly mammoths. so Mens Health 'Cave Man' diet stating that Peter Andre should be consuming fillet steak for breakfast is absolute crap. A diet high in animal protein is depremental to our bodies health as our bodies can NOT break down high amounts of red meat, as it will just sit in the bowl undigested. The diet also states that fruit should not be consumed due to a high sugar content an if it not grown locally to you, yet in the foods that you can eat it reccomends you eat blueberries, apples and in season local fruits... is this not fruit?

He is actually following a diet set out by Mens Health magazine. They do say that the plan is to allow him to lose fat while building muscle. He has a low body fat percentage already so needs a really strict diet. Certainly will be interesting to find out if he stayed on the diet for 6 weeks and if it was effective in reducing what little fat he had.
