Kristen Bell is now 33 years old and in her latest movie, The Lifeguard, she plays a young-at-heart woman who is almost 30 years-old. In the movie her character is desperately trying to avoid the tedium and responsibility of adulthood, so she goes back to work as a lifeguard in a local condo. Kristen is also well-known as Veronica Mars (television series and film) and Sarah Marshall in Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
For her role in The Lifeguard she had to be in excellent shape to make a convincing professional lifeguard. Kristen has always been in good shape though, so what do we know about her workouts and diet?
Kristen Bell’s Diet
Kristen Bell became a vegetarian when she was 11 years old. She says that she considered all animals equal regardless of whether they are pet cats and dogs or cows and sheep. She also never really enjoyed the taste of meat. From a young age she much preferred the texture and flavor of Brussels sprouts to beef!
More recently (2012) she has turned to veganism (see our article on vegan eating) with her partner Dax Shepard. They have been together since 2007 and are engaged to be married – but only when gay marriage becomes legal in California – solidarity!

Kristen cooks healthy food for herself, following a recipe from a book. This is a sign that she takes healthy eating seriously but also understands how to cook properly. Raw Food Cleanse
In January 2011 Kristen followed a 5 day raw food cleanse. She said “Most of the green juices are disgusting but all I’m allowed” – Twitter.
She is also a fan of local and fresh food, Tweeting:

Kristen does nothing extreme or special, she just eats a balanced diet. She has strong opinions on what ethical and healthy food is and knows exactly how to put healthy food on her plate.

30 Day Homies Fitness Challenge!
On 25 May 2012 Kristen started a very simple fitness regime – exercise every day for 30 days, anything goes:
ok heres the deal: 30 workouts in 30 days. anything counts. dvds, yoga, exercise class, gym, kickboxing, jogging, hiking even jazzersize. but not golf. get real. let me know how you are doing and we can share the pain. this was all inspired by a groupon i bought for Bar Method, btw. i realized my desire for a bargain faaaar out weighs my desire for a bikini body, which sucks, but i am who i am. The photo she shared is the one above – not a very flattering photo, but proof that celebrities have to go through the same pain as the rest of us to stay in shape.
She also tweeted:
“Spinning is the hardest thing for me. I am by far the worst in my class, which is hilarious and embarrassing. I cried during the cool down because I was exhausted, annoyed and stunned at how infectiously nice everyone in class was. Clearly, I needed a minute. Don’t give up. Let’s hit 30 together.”
While this method of fitness is not orthodox it does highlight a very important point – the key to staying in good shape is to exercise on a regular basis. A daily workout will get you in great shape. Most people fail simply because they stop working out every day.
So, Kristen Bell has a great body for 2 simple reasons:
- She eats healthy
- She exercises often and to a high intensity
If everybody did that every day the obesity epidemic would end tomorrow -well, maybe in 3-6 months.
