Soluble fibre is The Best Way to Treat IBS

Recent research carried out by Utrecht University, Netherlands, and published in the British Medical Journal has concluded people that suffer from IBS should take soluble fiber supplements. The study compared the effects of adding bran of soluble fiber, and the fiber was most effective. In some cases the bran actually irritated the bowel more.

Millions of people worldwide suffer from bowel problems, which referred to as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), however doctors are still not sure what is the trigger. Different people respond to different foods, and whereas some people cure their IBS by removing certain foods, such as wheat, bran, oats, sugar, alcohol etc. many never find the cause of their problems. However, research now suggests that the first line of defense again IBS should be to take a soluble fiber supplement everyday.
