Eddie Izzard’s 1,000 Mile Run for Sport Relief

Eddie Izzard is showing true British grit by running 1000 miles in 7 weeks to raise money on behalf of Sport Relief. Although he only started running 4 weeks ago, he plans to run 30 miles a day until he hits 1000 miles on day 34.

“I am going to try to run for Sport Relief charity around the whole of UK. London to Cardiff to Belfast to Edinburgh to London. “

In response to a fan who suggested that Eddie was “Forest Gumping it” he said that he was not like Forest, as Forest Gump did not know why he was running. Eddie does. He is running for his country, running for Sport Relief.

“I finished. 3 marathons in 3 days! I was cold and wet but I got to Stonehenge and I was allowed to walk inside the stone circle. Excellent” – about midnight on 29th July.

Eddie is updating fans on his Twitter feed, giving details of his progress. About an hour ago (9am, 30th July 2009) he Tweeted that “Setting off a bit later today. Doubling back from Stonehenge and heading to the Roman spa town of Bath.”

Eddie already has 734,921 followers on Twitter, so a large part of the UK are supporting his epic run. Go go Eddie!

Good to hear that Eddie is still running well. Now in Wales.

Eddie appeared on the Jonathan Ross show this evening to talk about his epic journey. He ran just over 1100 miles. Interestingly, he still has to run 2 marathons a week to avoid his body going into some sort of rapid collapse.

He was looking very healthy, very strong and fit.

    Well done Eddie Izzard!
