A recent study, published in the European Heart Journal, has revealed that taking a cod liver oil supplement everyday can reduce the risk of heart failure by a third. In the study, men who did not consume fish oil normally as part of their diet, saw heart failure fall by about 33% when taking a daily supplement of 0.36g.

Although it is best to consume a well balanced and healthy diet, this is certainly a reason to recommend more people, especially middle aged men, to take a supplement. Heart failure is still one of the biggest killers in the developed world, and with increasing levels of obesity heart problems are set to rise further.
