Omega fatty acids may slow the rate of cognitive decline in older people at the early stage of Alzheimer’s — a finding that may bring hope to those early-dementia patients denied therapeutic drugs by last week’s prescribing decree by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE). The discovery, by the Karolinska Institute in Sweden, is the result of a study of 204 patients published in the Archives of Neurology.
