Regular workouts can ward off fibroids
A recent study has shown that regular exercise may help to prevent uterine fibroids. Fibroids, also referred to as uterine leiomyomas, are benign tumors that grow in the uterus and can cause infertility, bleeding, pain and pregnancy difficulties. Uterine are the most common neoplasm in females, and may affect about 25% of white and 50% of black women during the reproductive years. Uterine Fibroids usually have to be removed by non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, a hysterectomy, hormonal therapy, a myomectomy, or uterine artery embolization.
“Women who reported at least 4 hours of vigorous exercise weekly were less likely to develop tumors than those who exercised less.”
Women have little control over the other factors that contribute to the development of uterine fibroids, so regular exercise is recommended to help reduce the chances of these tumors forming.

I sure defy the odds with my fibroids. I am a white woman who has bore 2 children, work out pretty regularly-mostly weights…and still have uterine fibroids.
I have read that mostly black women get them, that women who have not had children are more prone and now ppl who exercise can ward them off?
What am I saposed to do ? I am the walking ‘exception’ I guess.
I’d like to know where they get this cockamamey stuff.
Medical research often looks for trends that occur in a population. The research shows that exercise can help ward off fibroids, and that fibroids mostly affect black women of child bearing age, but this does not mean that it only affects this group of people. In fact the research did reveal that 25% of white women will also develop them at some point.
It sounds like you are doing the best that you can if you are exercising well and eating a healthy diet, and the fact that they have not caused infertility is certainly good news.
There will always be exceptions to the rule, as the rules can only be based on average conditions.
I eat the right foods i am dealing with fibroids, i exercise, will my stomach ever go down.
I have severe fibroids. I have had two myomectomies and they have returned. While I know I will have to have surgery again, is there a diet or any thing that can be done about the weight gain. I have eaten pretty healthy all of my life and work out 3-4, sometimes 5 days a week for 2 hours. I still am battling rapid weight gain.
